My Search for Happiness!
What I mean when I say I believe social anxiety can go away, is that its symptoms can be reduce to just a minor feeling… not disappearing my social anxiety, I’m still a social anxious guy, just that I’m learning to build my life around it and to live with it.
I have got myself to a point where I can have a functional life, reducing social anxiety symptoms to its minimum expression. That has helped me build up myself confidence again.
And be careful... again, I’m not saying I’m not a social anxious person, I’m very aware of what is going on with my life right now. What I’m saying is that I have a much better quality and functional life, let me explain what I mean:
I have a healthy lifestyle, I exercise, eat healthy, I go to a therapist every week, I have a job with computers which doesn’t requires of much contact with people, I found a person to share my life with, I’m building a much better and healthier relationship with my family, I have my own place, I can take care of it and pay my bills, I’m also starting to build relationships with people I feel comfortable with, and two important things I have incorporated to my life lately: I’m taking Paxil which has helped me reduced the physical symptoms of anxiety and I am becoming a more spiritual person (I mean a connection with some kind of good force, good energy, universe, god, Buddha, what ever you want to call it) that gives me strength and hope in difficult times.
I wanted to share my own testimony for those of you out there without hope. Yes it’s possible to have a GOOD LIFE, even though we have social difficulties, we just need to find our own way. There’s no magical formula or medicine, you just have to find your own, accept you are socially anxious, don’t fight it and build your life around it: Find a job for a socially anxious person, study some technical stuff or career that fits your personality, make friends with people you feel comfortable with, try to get into a healthy lifestyle, build good relationships with your family, if you need medicine take it with the guide of a doctor not every drug is suitable for everybody, build a spiritual life (yoga, meditation, Buda, God, what ever). You don´t have to do all that, those are only tips for you to try, what ever works better for you, but do it.
Common on, find and maintain your search for happiness, you deserve it!

Congrats! I am so happy that things are going so well for you lately. Thanks for spreading hope :)
P.S. You deserve it!
Very wise words, and a healthy attitude, to boot. Half the battle, in my opinion, is in one's attitude toward oneself and the world. Focus on the positives and try to dismiss the negatives. We all have the ability to do this, but not all of us have the desire to try. Sounds like you're making a very positive effort. Keep up the good work, it'll pay off in the long run.
Cheers,
Dave
I was in a similiar situation for a while and managed to escape from it so that I would no longer call myself a sufferer.
All it takes is effort - a hell of a lot of effort - but it can be done (see www.phobiafree.org for how i done it).
Keep it up.
Hi, I’m trying to build a collection of social anxiety related blog links. Just letting you know I’ve added you to that list
